Hurricanes add Arsenault to roster for upcoming season

May 31, 2018

Kamden Arsenault recently committed to the Holland Hurricanes men’s volleyball team after completing three undefeated seasons at Three Oaks High School.  The 6’3” Summerside, PEI native was also the starting middle for the PEI Canada Games team in 2017.

“I chose Holland College because they have proven to be a powerhouse in the ACAA,” he shared. “I have watched them play and have liked what I’ve seen. Having the chance to play and study on Prince Edward Island seems like a great fit for me and that’s why I chose to enroll at Holland College.”

Max Arsenault, a member of the Hurricanes coaching staff, is glad to be adding a player of Arsenault’s skill level to the roster.

“We are very excited to have a local talent such as Kamden Arsenault joining our team this upcoming fall. He has proven to be one of the top middle players on PEI and has had a very successful last few years with the Three Oaks Axemen, as well as making the Canada Games team this past summer. We look forward to working with this young, dedicated athlete moving forward.”

Last season the Hurricanes went 13-2 during the regular season to enter the playoffs as the top seeded team.  They would ultimately fall in the conference championship game to the hosts from the St. Thomas University.

The Hurricanes hope Arsenault can help them get back to form after winning the ACAA Championship for the first time in 2017.

“My strength is my dedication to the sport.  I may not be the tallest middle but I make up for it with my speed, running a quick offense and my quickness in getting to the outside to block,” he shared.

“I will bring energy and commitment to the team, I know I will be one of the youngest players, so I look forward to giving it my all, and improving as much as I can.”

Playing in your home province at the collegiate level can be a rare occurrence, and Arsenault knows he has some expectations on him as an Islander.

“I hope to inspire young PEI talent, and show them that with continuous training and effort, you can make it to the ACAA.  Islanders have a very good program here in the Holland Hurricanes; I’m extremely excited to be playing in my home province.”

The Hurricanes will host the 2019 ACAA Championships at the Holland College Centre for Community Engagement in February.
